“Shattered Communities,” Interactive Exhibit in the new Zaha Hadid building, Hong Kong

“Shattered Communities” is a kinetic interactive installation that encourages people to hide and reveal ourselves to each other. It attempts to create conversations and promote interactions through the walls themselves.   The project makes the point that every student, faculty and staff  are essential parts of a web of interactions that define the School of Design.  The movements of the walls are translated through the web of moving strings in the space above symbolizing their networked connections.  It is both a commentary and a criticism on the architecture of the school of design which lacks a common space for interactions and hopes that this can happen more often in the lobby which is typically only a transitional space that people pass though.
