Dennis Dollens (a professor teaching biodigital architecure at ESAQ, Barcelona) recently released an iphone app in comic book form dealing with generative structures from bio-algorithmic software. Treehugger wrote a spot about it here and it’s currently available at the iphone app store. We got in contact with Dennis and asked him a little about the app as well….
BA: If you had to summarize the main objective of this app what would it be?
Dennis: The app follows a print version of the comic book and an earlier biomimetic & digital design comic book I wrote and illustrated for my master students in Barcelona. It deals with generative forms as experimental visualization—not necessarily solutions—for integrating attributes found in nature with structures, surfaces, and bio-functions needed in buildings.
